Updated Mac OS to Snow Leopard/retriever not working
I updated my MAC OS to snow leopard and now the retriever for Mac doesn't work. Tried to reload with version 4.6.1.2. I downloaded the poller and dragged it into applications folder. When I double click on study retriever it is in my dock, but nothing else happens. I cannot set preferences. WHen I right click on icon in dock it gives me options of: Remove from Dock, Open at Login, and Show in Finder. Or there is an Open listing, but nothing happens. Any suggestions?
Re: Updated Mac OS to Snow Leopard/retriever not working
Hi,
Can you confirm that you upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6) and not Lion (10.7)? I'm running 4.6.1.2 in Snow Leopard without a problem. Lion was released last week but we don't officially support it for OnePacs yet.
Thanks,
Justin

The retriever works on 10.6 and 10.7 (lion).
Can you check software update to see if you have the latest Java?
If Java is up to date, I'd uninstall it entirely then reinstall:
Uninstalling the Study Retriever
To completely remove the Study Retriever from your computer, follow these steps.
1. Quit the Study Retriever if it is running.
2. Drag the Study Retriever icon from the Applications folder to the Trash.
3. Drag the onepacs folder from your home folder to the Trash.

It is definitely snow leopard. Lion is an online purchase only. I have removed the retriever multiple times as you outline by dragging it to the trash. What do you mean delete the onepacs folder? Where is that?

I see you say it is in the home folder. Unfortunately, I am not at my Mac today. I am at the hospital. I will try looking for the onepacs folder in my home folder. However, the retriever does sit on my dock after I re-install and it just flashes for a second if I click on it to open. I will log in tonight and see if I can find the onepacs folder and delete it.

DID WHAT YOU SAID AND STILL NOT WORKING!
Re: Updated Mac OS to Snow Leopard/retriever not working
Have you updated your Java as Tom suggested? You may also want to check your Java preferences (Applications/Utilities/Java). Make sure both 32 and 64 bit JVMs are checked.

No need to shout (type in all caps).
Have you run software update to make sure you're on the most recent Java? The behavior you describes sounds like you might not be on the most recent Java. Please check this.
I called over at the number we have for you, but was told you're out at the moment. At any rate, please check to see if there's an update for your Java software available. The study retriever requires the most recent Java as described in the docs. I think this may be the problem. If not let me know and we can go from there.

No. Java update did not help. I will just use a PC retriever to send to my Mac.
PS, I didn't even notice I typed all in caps on my earlier post. I wasn't trying to yell. Sorry.

Re: Updated Mac OS to Snow Leopard/retriever not working
Do you think going the next step to Lion would help? I am thinking I should try the Java Update again. If that fails to fix the situation, I would delete the retriever and the onepacs file from my computer, update to Lion and try the install again. With an additional check for Java updates (of course).
