windows 7 compliance for WS

Post by hilario » Thu Apr 15, 2010 12:01 pm

Hello. What is the situation of this? Should we be able to run the WS on windows 7?
People tell me they are trying to install it unsuccessfully.

Hilario,

My apologies for the delay. I somehow missed this post.

Yes, OnePacs Workstation can be run natively on WIndows 7 32 bit. In Windows 7 64 bit you need to run in in "XP mode." We are working on a 64 bit version that should be available in the next several months.

Justin

I tried to run on "XP mode" unsesfully.
I got the message "OnePacs Desktop 4.3.0 can not be intalled on Windows XP/Vista x64"
Then even in XP mode I till have x64 Operating system.
Have you progressed on this?
Thanks

Hilario,

We're still working on the 64 bit version. You will be the first to know when it is released.

Thanks,

Justin

Please add very CLEARLY somewhere that the GATEWAY doesn't work with x64 Operating System.
If you buy new PCs for this, and they have x64 Operating system you may be in trouble because to run the gateway on Virtual PC it means you have log in a user and then the system doesn't restart automaticaly (or at least these are my conclusions, perhaps someone can help me to find a workaround).
That's a bit problem if the gateway is in a closed room without a way to access it remotely.

Hilario,

We'll have 64 bit versions of everything within a few months.

If you have purchased a computer pre-loaded with a 64 bit OS, you can simply load a 32-bit version of windows onto the computer for use until our 64-bit versions are available. The hardware you get when you buy a "64-bit" computer is capable of running either 32-bit or 64-bit windows. Sorry that it's a bit of a hassle, but buying a copy of a windows XP, vista, or windows 7 32-bit installer will solve the problem.

We'll add the clarification to our documentation, good suggestion.

At the end I looked for DELL products, they are till providing PCs with windows XP SP3 and 32 bits.
And eveything is working on them as we know.
Regards for the comments anyway.

Windows 7 32-bit is also ok.
Surprisingly, microsoft didnt break too much in windows 7. I think their vista experience taught them a lesson on that.
Everything works fine in 32 bit windows 7.

Thancks for the news.
I am testing it now on a Windows 7 64 bits.
OnePacs WS windows open with some problems. Over the OnePacs Windows I get an alert windos indicating:
=================================================================================
Descripción:
Stopped working

Archivos que ayudan a describir el problema:
C:\Users\hilario\AppData\Local\Temp\WER4EAD.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\hilario\AppData\Local\Temp\WER7235.tmp.mdmp

When I click on cancel on this windows it closed and close also the OnePacs WS windows.
Any suggestion?
