Study Retriever Mac x PC

Post by paulokuriki » Wed Mar 25, 2015 9:09 am

Hi
Is there any difference about the download speed between the Mac vs PC Study Retriever versions?
When I download images from Mac Study Retriver the speed gets up to 150 KB/s.
When I'm using the same computer, but running Study Retriver via VMware, it uses all my bandwidth.
Thanks
Paulo

Hello -
What version of the Mac study retriever do you have? I recommend downloading and installing the latest version.

Hi Jeremy
I updated both versions and this difference still continues.
Below you can see the same study being downloaded at the same computer at the same time.

I have already checked all the preferences and they are also the same.
Thanks

We are aware of a performance issue when the study retriever is using the loopback interface on the Mac to communicate with Osirix. There is something being worked on to address this in an upcoming release, but there is something you can do on the computer to help out with the performance. Open a terminal window, and type: sudo ifconfig lo0 mtu 9000
Hit enter, and type your password if prompted. This change will not survive a restart or sleep cycle though, so will need to be repeated in those cases. After the software enhancement is added, this "ifconfig" approach will no longer be necessary.

Hope this helps,
-- Damien

Hi Damien
As a Mac user, I'm glad to hear you are working on this.
I tried this ifconfig tweak. The speed isn't as fast as the Windows version yet, but it's definitely better.
Thanks
Paulo
