RemotEye (Java) Viewer Helper Application

Post by onepacs » Tue Jun 11, 2019 12:11 pm

OnePacs Administrators,

OnePacs is happy to announce an improved method of launching the RemotEye (Java) viewer from the OnePacs web application!. The new method requires installation of a helper application (RIA Helper) but does not require that the Java runtime environment be installed or available in the browser. Further, it makes the RemotEye (Java) viewer accessible from any modern browser (including FireFox, Chrome, Edge and Safari). This is a huge improvement in usability for users of the RemotEye viewer!

The RIA Helper application is available for download now. Simply download and install the RIA Helper application for Mac or Windows, and then launch the RemotEye (Java) viewer from the worklist. The RIA Helper application is available for Mac and Windows.

At present, if the RIA Helper application is not detected it will silently fail over to the legacy mode of launching the viewer (downloading jnlp file). Beginning with the next OnePacs release, if the RIA Helper application is not detected, users will be given an option to may choose to launch the RemotEye (Java) Viewer via the legacy method (java jnlp file), attempt to start the RIA Helper application, or download/install the RIA Helper application.

Please share the information with your clients’ system admins as you deem necessary. Let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

OnePacs
