We used to be able to reset user passwords either as the administrator or by user requesting the change. The user requests it and does not get an email and the administrator does not have the old password to verify the change. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks,

Hi,
A user can reset their own password if their account is associated with a unique email address AND they have the "Change password" permission. If not, an email will be sent to the administrator.
An administrator can change the password of any user they can manage using the following steps:
1) Admin -> Users
2) Select the user you wish to change
3) Press "Change password"
4) Enter the new password (twice to confirm)
5) You may be prompted to enter YOUR password to confirm your identity as an admin.
Best,
Justin

When you say "the administrator does not have the old password to verify the change", possibly you are referring to the administrator now being asked to verify their own password when changing a user's password. The administrator does not need to know the user's password. The administrator is now asked to verify their own password to prevent misuse of an administrator's account, for example, if they are logged in on a computer and leave it unattended. If they change several user passwords in succession they will be asked to verify their own password only the first time, the system will remember that they recently verified their own password. Possibly this appeared to you to be a request for the user's password.
Hopefully this answers all your questions, if there is anything else please let us know.
