Poor qualitywith poller for MAC

Post by shadowdoc86 » Sat May 14, 2011 5:31 am

Downloaded study retriever for MAC. The images are grainy and pixel (ly). Reloaded with PC poller to MAC and images were fine. WOuld like to not have both computers running in the future. How can the images be improved with the MAC only retriever?

It sounds like a compression-related issue. There are two decompression engines for JPEG 2000 in Osirix, and the one that is chosen by default seems to have decompression issues sometimes with some images.

In Osirix, go to Preferences from the file menu, select the general icon, and look for the section that says JPEG 2000.

There is an option to choose the decompression engine. You can choose either Kakadu SDK (the default selection), or OpenJPEG SDK.

Try choosing the OpenJPEG option. Delete the case(s) from Osirix, then store them again. I think this will fix your issue.

They say the OpenJPEG option is slow, but I don't notice that.
