Faxing reports via email

I have a question in regards to faxing report from the system... Currently one of our referring offices would like all the reports to still be faxed to them upon completion, I believe that there is a bidirectional fax option within the paid version of Onepacs, but we are presently still utilizing the free version.

There is a spot to enter additional destinations for reports where you can enter an email address for the report to be sent to; I was wondering if this will also work to send to an electronic fax inbox that has an email address associated with it. For example, my company uses MetroFax and to receive faxes, you can either simply fax to the number and retrieve it electronically or you can email a document to
##########@my.metrofax.com and get the same result.

The referring office uses the fax product Zetafax if that makes any difference.

Any help would be appreciated.

For faxing reports, our recommended method is to subscribe to our fax service which is a paid feature of OnePacs. We have direct data links to the public telephone network from the OnePacs server clusters and offer a reliable, fast subscribed fax service.

It's also possible to email reports through email-to-fax gateways as you mention about.

Regarding emailing report information, usually when a report is emailed there is just a URL emailed with a link to the report, without PHI.
The email body includes the following info in such cases:

Patient initials: A.B.C.
Patient age: 23y
Study type: <DICOM study type>
Study date/time: <date/time>
Performing facility: <Name of facility>

<URL link to view images>

There's also a report destination type that involves emailing the full report text. This report destination type is useful for sending reports when the emails will be transmitted over a secure network, or when PHI isnt included in the report body. We have the ability to set up secure email links with email to fax services via a dedicated VPN, and would be happy to discuss this option with you. When the full report body is included in the email, it is attached as an HTML attachment. This could be combined with an email to fax service to fax the report.
