Yes it appears that for some reason your modality is actually generating new UIDs for the instances when you re-send them. So there's nothing on the OnePacs end we could do to fix that.

Check the configuration settings on your device or check with the manufacturer/tech support, sounds like this is something that I expect can be turned off.

Thanks for reviewing this and getting back to me. I will get with Konica regarding your message. Lets say they can fix the issue. How can we get rid of these duplicates? I would prefer to not have to go back and delete the image individually. Can I even delete just an image? Or, does it have to be the entire study?

Thanks again!

Since your studies are not reported, and have no other external data associated with them, you could just delete the entire study from OnePacs and resend from your modality.

Thanks,

Justin

Would that then just overwrite the other studies with the correct number of images?

I'm not sure what you mean by "overwrite." If you delete the study first, there's nothing to overwrite. The image count will be whatever number of images you send.

If you corrected the UID problem, deleted the study, and resent the same study twice, it should just ignore the duplicate instances during the second send. Sending a second time wouldn't change the image count.

Thanks,

Justin

No, it wouldnt delete the existing incorrect images. Onepacs has no way to know that the Konica device is sending extra, unnecessary images. As far as OnePacs can tell, all the images which were sent from the Konica device are desired.

If you deleted the entire study from OnePacs (including the undesired duplicate images), then re-sent it, with the configuration fixed on the Konica device, then you'll have things the way you want.

With DICOM, there's no definition within a study of what the total # of images in the study is supposed to be. If you send the study again from the device with the same study UID, all DICOM devices will just assume that these are potentially extra images to be added to the existing study. Existing instances will never be deleted in DICOM because of a re-send. An instance with the exact same instance UID will be individually over-written, but additional/extra images won't be simply eliminated for any reason.
