Please advise the options for correcting a report when the facility sends a study with the wrong PT name. The error was not discovered until after the case was read.
Thank you.
Facility Error Entering Patient Name

1. You could create a new patient and move the study to the new patient if you are given the correct user permissions by your Administrator.
2. With the name field the case may need to be deleted and resent after correcting the patient name at the source (modality or PACS) system.

See Section Delete and Resend
As the report was already completed the report should be saved prior to deletion and re entered after the study has been transmitted again.

Jeremy

Re: Facility Error Entering Patient Name
Jeremy,
This process to correct name or number entry errors is cumbersome requiring deletion from the gateway , a call to the reading radiologist for him to delete from both worklist as well as OnePacs Workstation. Then the study must be resent from the originating site.
Why can't a correction to a field (i.e. name or MRN) overwrite info at OnePacs server and trigger a corrected resending of the exam or specific change to exam??
Thanks,
Ken Jacob MD

Re: Facility Error Entering Patient Name
Dr. Jacob -
Changing DICOM header information via a DICOM cstore transaction would not be an ideal solution. Imaging technicians could inadvertently change patient information by sending incorrect information after the initial store. A store of a single image could result in multiple studies belonging to the same patient being updated, merged, or split. Errors should ideally be corrected at the source of the images and would ideally be noticed during the study confirmation process. As mentioned in http://www.onepacsforums.com/phpbb/view ... ?f=2&t=276 the ability to edit patient, study, and series is planned for development in OnePacs. As mentioned earlier in this thread some patient id and name errors may be corrected by creating a new patient and moving the study. The "Modify patient data" role may be granted to users to perform this functionality.
