Splitting a Study in Two

Post by kgoodarzi » Thu Oct 30, 2014 3:43 pm

Hello, Does anyone know if there is a way to split a study in two separate studies. The tech performed the second study using the same accession number and cannot separate them on the modality. Thanks,

Hello -

Currently a user may not split a study on the web. Accession number (tag (0008,0050)), however, does not determine study uniqueness in DICOM. Rather, study UID (tag (0020,000D)) must be unique per study. Potentially one could coerce the study instance UID on the necessary series using a separate tool and delete and/or restore.

Currently a study may also be moved to a different patient, the accession number could be updated, and one or more series of a study could be deleted from the web if case those items would help in this case.

With a paid OnePacs account, you could also contact support for additional options.

Hello -
I should also mention that you can potentially create a new patient, study, and split a series to the new study on the Gateway. The top toolbar on the gateway worklist has a create new patient icon and a move selected entities icon. The row for the patient would have a create study icon. You would select the series to move and then the new study to move into and the press the move selected entities icon. The top toolbar also contains an icon to send selected entities to a destination. You would select the OnePacs central server option to manually push a study to the cloud and press the send entities button.

Hi Jeremy,
I managed to do it by creating a new patient in the Gateway and transferring the studies.

Thanks,
