Sending VIA VPN

Post by mindi2210 » Wed May 07, 2014 10:27 am

We have several hospitals in the area that we want to send images electronically, as well as have images sent to us from their PACS systems. What is the best way to do this? They are requesting VPN connections but I am not sure that works with OnePACS.

There is no need for a VPN when sending images to OnePacs. The purpose of a VPN is to keep the information transmitted encrypted and private. OnePacs already encrypts the data using HIPAA-compliant standards.

If they are sending a lot of studies, the best way is for them to install a transmission computer (gateway) and install the OnePacs gateway software on it. If it's just a few studies occasionally, they could either install a gateway or use the "upload" button in the main web interface window.

Thank you John. How would they receive images from us? Would they have to download the study from OnePACS and upload into their system? Is there a way to send directly to their PACS system?

The hospital will only work thru VPN so they will set up a VPN with us and push via VPN to the gateway...I am good with that. Can I set up DICOM transfer (to send to the hospital) directly on the Gateway or can I only do it thru the Desktop Viewer? Wait...I think I found out how to do it on the Gateway...just add an new AE destination under AE management?

Yes you can add destinations under AE managemnet and push studies back to the hospital from the gateway, if you wish.
